The STAR-Switch SP8 is Safiery's rubberised, exterior-grade 8-button keypad for the STAR digital switching range — an IP67-rated, back-lit rubber panel that wires onto the STAR CAN bus (the same open SAE J1939 standard used across the range for Victron gear, NMEA devices and third-party wired keypads, not a proprietary bus like Redarc's R-Bus). It's the keypad included as standard in Safiery's Jupiter packs, and its build reflects that job: a traditional rubber button press that keeps working when your fingers are grimy or dripping in oil, and cleans up just as easily afterward. That combination — sealed rubber construction plus an IP67 rating — is what separates it from its closest sibling, the STAR-Switch Icon (IC8). Both are 8-button CAN keypads, but the Icon trades some weather sealing (IP65) for swappable, engraved icon buttons at more than double the price ($446.00 vs $204.75). Pick SP8 where the keypad genuinely lives outside — on a canopy, a camper exterior, a tourer's tub — and reach for IC8 instead where you want to relabel circuits later without rewiring the panel. On the wiring side, SP8 needs no programming of its own: install it and wire it into the CAN backbone alongside a STAR-Power, STAR-Light or STAR-Rover controller (all of which carry a CAN port for Victron, NMEA and wired-keypad connectivity), and its 8 buttons are assigned to output channels on the controller's side rather than the keypad's — a workflow confirmed in detail for STAR-Light's own CAN keypad configuration tool. At 105 × 63 × 16mm (22mm behind the panel) it mounts into a compact cutout, landscape orientation, running from the vehicle's 12V supply.
